These are not your typical out-of-a-box buildings. Each garage and/or carriage house is designed from scratch with unique characteristics and architectural details, combined with solid experience, and your input. Other garage builders will give you a few designs to choose from, we build to your vision and needs. We handle the design, permitting process, construction, and hand you the keys/opener. Other garage builders will do just enough to meet code on stability and grade of materials. We use only the finest construction materials and best methods to give you a building that will last a lifetime.
Carriage House

This carriage house was part of the Salena Project we completed in 2006. Although not a "new" construction project in the traditional sense, this building was razed down to two foundation walls, and completely reconstructed as the original structure was collapsing and remained 40% intact. Deemed unsafe for entry or reconstruction, we recreated it using old-world artisanship with modern building materials and extreme attention to detail. See more in the Carriage House section of the Salena Project .
Flat-Roof 2-Car Oversized Garage

Those looking for more headroom or the addition of some lovely historic flair, a flat-roof garage might be a good choice. This particular garage was constructed using 2x6 walls, 14" tall engineered (TJI) joists,3/4" roof decking, and 60mil Firestone rubber roofing. This allowed us to span the entire 24' width of the garage with no beams or posts while providing strength to support a future rooftop deck. And the roof maintains a 20yr minimum warranty! The use of clay tiles for capping the parapet wall adds another layer of historic appeal. See the project.
Gabled Garages

For those looking to solve the problem of covered off-street parking, the classic gabled garage is often a fine choice. Requiring no painting in the first 10-20 years, and using materials that are covered by a 50 year minimum warranty, this garage is an easy choice for those seeking covered parking while adding some attic storage and additional space for yard tools, etc. See the Shaw garage and workshop construction process.

Another fantastic option is to do a classic gable type with an extended length to allow for a workshop space. While adding some marginal cost, it creates addtional 200 square feet of workshop space to use as the homeowner wishes and does not interfere with the 2-car 20' wide parking bay.

Here we see a large classic gable with a modification of the roof to add gable windows and dormers. This modification makes this garage appear to be a carriage house. Although there is currently no plans to install a floor for an upper level (although you could do so later with relative ease), the dormers add a lovely visual dimension while also adding to the natural light inside and not compromising security. Due to be completed in May 2009.
New England/Cape Cod Style Specialty Garage

Constructed so as not to interfere with the property line constraints, this garage has a compact footprint - and is anything but small. With a 35 degree roof pitch, this building offers tremendous overhead storage space and an open feeling while easily accomplishing its intended purpose of providing parking in a compact 2-car space. Designed and built to fit in to the architecture of the area while standing out architecturally, this project defines "specialty".
